Sincere thanks to Brett Courtenay for giving me a signed copy of JACK OF DIAMONDS
Signed copies of Bryce's last novel are exceedingly rare!
In 2023, Christine Courtenay, Bryce's widow, sold the following lot on eBay:
JACK OF DIAMONDS By Bryce Courtenay (Hardcover - Unsigned, published by Penguin Books - 2012). This copy is in good condition with a little yellowing of some of the pages likely due to the age of the book.
There is also a PAPERBACK edition published by Penguin Books in 2014. This copy is in an acceptable condition, with some signs of wear, but with the Hardcover provides a great duo of the title for your collection.
This was Bryce's FINAL novel completed just a few months before he sadly passed away in Canberra on November 22nd, 2012 aged 79 years. A remarkable novel cherished by readers which also includes a powerful Prologue at the end of the book as Bryce was unable to write the sequel as he had hoped. Bryce only managed to sign a handful of his final book, so both of these editions will be STAMPED small copy of Bryce's signature.
PLUS, a beautiful glass brooch of DIAMOND JIM, the magical African Grey Parrot who stars in the book! Bryce had these especially made in Canberra, after briefing a gifted local glass artist, and this is one of only two in the seller's private collection. It has a pin at the back (see photos) and only about ten or twelve were produced.
PLUS, the AUDIO BOOK of JACK OF DIAMONDS, Brand new and still in its original wrapper, and produced by Bolinda Audio, and narrated by the gifted reader Humphrey Bower - 2 MP3 Compact Discs - 28 hours & 20 minutes.
A wonderful and special collection celebrating Bryce's final novel Jack of Diamonds. Bryce Courtenay: Australia's best loved storyteller (1933-2012).
