1888 - Maiwa's Revenge

Another Allan Quatermain story

MAIWA'S REVENGE was first seen as a serial in two-parts in the July and August 1888 numbers of Harper's Monthly Magazine, New York. This serialization contains ten illustrations by Thure de Thulstrup.

Harper & Brothers then published its 1-volume edition on July 23, 1888, which also contains the Thulstrup illustrations.

In London Longmans, Green, published 30,000 copies of its first British edition on August 3, 1888. There exist two binding states: whitish-gray boards, and nicer blackish boards. These two variants were apparently issued simultaneously, and without any illustrations. A second printing of 10,000 (Thirty-first to Fortieth Thousand) copies was also published in 1888.

Longmans later published an edition in 1891 with 8 full-page plates by Charles Kerr.

See the VisualHaggard.org page dedicated to the illustrations found in various editions.
