Alfred Wilks Drayson
A.W. Drayson was born April 17, 1827. He graduated in 1846 from the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Commissioned, he then served in the Seventh Xhosa War. He rose through the ranks of the Royal Artillery, being promoted captain in 1854, on his return from South Africa, and finally attaining the rank of general. Drayston died in Portsmouth on 27 September 1901.
